Along Manhattan’s iconic High Line, 520 West 28th Street introduces a striking landmark to the West Chelsea neighborhood. Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Dame Zaha Hadid and developed by Related, one of the nation’s preeminent luxury developers, the condominium is widely recognized as one of New York City’s most architecturally significant addresses.
ARCHITECTURE
Appropriately coined “The Zaha Hadid Building,” 520 West 28th is a monumental tribute both to the architect’s legacy and to the city itself. The condominium is Hadid’s first and only project in New York, and one of the last to bear her personal stamp after her unexpected death in 2016, a year prior to the building’s completion.
Hadid, whose globally significant body of work is defined by organic forms and graceful curves inspired by nature, brings this unique sensibility to 520 West 28th. Located directly on the High Line in the heart of West Chelsea, New York City’s premier arts and cultural district, the condominium sets a new standard for residential architecture, with striking curves, highly curated amenities, and a distinctive chevron façade that embraces the property’s interlaced levels. Awarded for its innovative design—earning accolades like ENR’s Award of Merit and Best Project—the building’s split-level architecture and hand-crafted steel panels showcase cutting-edge engineering as much as aesthetic flair.
“It’s sculpture inhabited.” That’s how Tiago Correia, the U.S. director of Zaha Hadid Architects describes 520 West 28th. “We made a building that very deliberately blurs the lines between art and architecture,” he explains. “That’s our way to pay tribute to the location, to Zaha’s work, and to the burgeoning lifestyle in the area.”

INTERIOR
The 11-story condominium comprises 39 luxurious, two- to five-bedroom residences spread across 21 interlaced floors. The loft-like units are designed with the highest standards of comfort and style, featuring soaring ceiling heights of over ten feet, private or semi-private elevator entries, and integrated setback terraces and balconies in most residences. The units were designed by Jennifer Post and West Chin, and feature custom-designed kitchens and bathrooms by Boffi in collaboration with Hadid and outfitted by Gaggenau.
EXTERIOR
The building features laser-cut stainless steel trim that was fabricated and finished by M Cohen and Sons. The building’s curvilinear geometric motifs are a signature of Zaha Hadid Architects. The angular plan and open vista offer stunning views of the New York City skyline, overlooking the Empire State Building and High Line.
